Dune: Poster

Illustrated in excitement for the home release of the movie Dune (2021). When I saw Dune in theaters, this statue immediately caught my attention; not only in the detail but how the light & composition worked in the multiple frames where it showed up. ⁠

What I love about this statue is that there are multiple interpretations of what it could symbolize. It can be both historical and prophetic, foreshadowing death, or even metaphoric…or, at least in my opinion, is all of the above. ⁠

The moons spell out the movie title D U N E and the colours capture the ominous feelings of the movie, where the orange represents the focus & pursuit of melange.⁠

Illustrations of Lent

This project was focused on two goals: using radial symmetry to create narrative-based illustrations, and using these illustrations for the purpose of spiritual/faith-based imagery. At the heart of every illustration, you will be able to see a cross shape, presenting the identity of Christ. The mood of this project is a bit somber, and less playful than my other work – but still rewarding. All the illustrations were drawn in Procreate.

This first illustration is meant to capture the traditional customs with Ash Wednesday. You’ll see four faces with ashes applied down the forehead. The pattern in the middle represents praying hands and candles.

In this illustration, the marks were created to represent a crown of thorns. The cross in the middle gives off a very official-state symbol, representing the trial with Pontius Pilate.

Simple in creation, this illustration shows the straight-forward action of Jesus being nailed to the cross.

Branching off of the previous illustration, this piece shows the wounded hands and whipping that Jesus endured in his crucifixion.

This piece merges all five illustrations into one, showing the magnitude of events, complexity, and darkness of the death on Good Friday and the waiting of Holy Saturday.

The center of the last illustrations shows the stone that was rolled away while the rest of the illustration bursts forth with the radiance of the sun and cross.

House Like a Lotus: Illustrated Book Cover

House Like a Lotus is a young adult book written by A Wrinkle in Time author, Madeleine L’Engle. The concept for this cover took a literal approach, using the lotus as the house in the main artwork. The direction of this project was influenced by L’Engle’s refined work with a soupçon of whimsy. The illustration uses a balance to capture the themes of identity, trauma, and forgiveness.

The Long Table

This brand identity was created to accurately reflect organic and local ingredients, professional passion, and community that is at the very heart of Green Artichoke Catering’s The Long Table.

Every colour is taken directly from fresh and real dishes created by GAC. The photographed session that inspired the colour palette can be seen here.

Every illustration is seasonally inspired and hand-illustrated to bring focus to the authentic heart behind The Long Table.

Illustrations were done to reflect the fresh ingredients in their best seasons. Based on Chef Kyle’s recommendations, each season contains 4-6 hand-drawn illustrations that have been preserved to reflect a hand made and authentic feel.

The concept is refined, simple, and inviting – enough to bring anyone up to the table for new friends and a delicious meal. A serif font was selected to highlight simplicity, sophistication, and allows for a typeface that is timeless. The finalized concept was created to showcase something that is local, sophisticated, and inviting. The design was inspired by farm-to-table and organic food sources but does not rely on trendy or outdated imagery.

Art direction, design, illustrations and photography by Natahsha Priya.

Custom illustrations were turned into a pattern – used seasonally with each menu.

Early Spring illustrations: (March – May) Asparagus, rhubarb, peas, morel mushroom, and fiddleheads.

Summer illustrations: (June – August) Fennel, honey, tomato, salal berry, and salmon.

Early Autumn illustrations: (September- early October) Albacore tuna, chanterelle mushrooms, artichoke, and garlic.

Late Autumn illustrations: (October – November) Beets, carrots, apples, and brussels sprouts.

The finalized brand package included 1 main logo, in addition to 5 alternates, and a colour palette of 6 colours to complement each season.

An unused concept was a lighter and more contemporary approach.

The second unused concept was influenced heavily by “farm-to-table,” but didn’t reflect the fine dining experience offered by Green Artichoke Catering.

The Emperor’s New Groove Icons

These icons were made after one of my favourite movies, The Emperor’s New Groove. I decided to highlight six of the main characters, Kuzco, moments that caused a shift.

We start off with Kuzco in his regular and selfish state, then we move over to Kronk’s delicious spinach puffs, followed by some (extract of) llama poison, llama Kuzco in a state of shock, the sunny hillside (filled with friendship and self-awareness), and we end with key location of Kuzco’s redemption of when he returns to his human state.

Below you’ll see my sketch that helped with the planning of the layouts and what scenes I was hoping to capture.
