Zero Zero Two – Unselected Concept

This is the unselected direction for Zero Zero Two – still meeting the needs of the brief, the client opted for a version that had put it more in line with other athletic brands vs. sports clubs. Even if a concept doesn’t make the final cut, it still reflects strong design thinking, creative strategy, and a clear connection to the brief.

Zero Zero Two is a premier pickleball club in the heart of based in Fort Collins, Colorado. The club is locally and player-owned, focused on performance and improvement, and committed to creating a better playing and customer experience.

This concept played with a dual identity—the “Z” acts almost like an anagram, doubling as a “2” and visually linking to the slash seen in the main “Two” lockup. The branding was designed to reflect a club for people who love the game, while walking the line between modern and stylish.

The orange, green, and off-white palette was inspired by pickleballs, but softened to create a more elevated, club-like atmosphere. The colours work in various combinations to bring warmth, contrast, and a sense of laid-back hospitality.

At the heart of the concept was a simple idea: create something by the players, for the players. From merchandise to posters to brand elements, the goal was to give both Founding Members and regulars something they could feel proud of—something that reflects the community they’ve built together.

While the final colour palette chosen for the brand had a completely different energy, this version still holds something beautiful. It’s bright, playful, and refined enough to fit the club’s vision.

AWDEA

As part of our Giving Back Project – we dontated a brand identity to a deserving and local to the Vancouver-area non-profit. Our second recipient and selection for 2024 is AWDEA – Adults with Disabilities Entertainment Access comes from a desire to build community for adults with disabilities and their caregivers to help create a sense of belonging.

Adults with disabilities are often overlooked, while some basic needs are met – they don’t have the same opportunities to enjoy life in the same capacities as others. AWDEA gives them an avenue to feel included. Some adults might be struggling with the loss of community that may come with a disability. This is for them, this is for them to build community, to feel inspired and to feel supported, seen and cared for as part of AWDEA’s mission.

A custom icon mark was created along with customized typography for a brand that is bold as it is experienced and accessible. The logo mark can work in a range of ways that can be used as a play button or even for way-finding. The design is inspired by the entertainment industry, and designs that feel timeless but also unified, modern and welcoming. The typography has been customized for a design that captures a style across all iterations – matching the logomark.

The bold icon represents an A, the spokes of a wheelchair, and a play button. It embracing their demographic & mission. The goal of this brand identity was to create something that visually fit within the entertainment industry while remaining flexible and unique for usage.

Colours are inspired by concerts and include a range of bold and high contrast colours that feel modern and thoughtful – while being also accessible and practical. The tones capture grit, character, and a little warmth and glow.

Verdant Confections

Verdant Confections is based out of British Columbia – offering both artisan chocolates but also small-batch vanilla products. This brand identity captures something that feels elegant but also artisanal – a visual identity that scales while using a strong and unified brand system.

The name says it all… Verdant: lush botanicals & ingredients, thriving life… womanhood. The concept leans into these very ideas – embracing the senses, sensuality, mystery and celebrating the handmade. This direction evokes mystery, a touch of whimsy with some good-old fashioned bold inks and texture.

The icon is Lady Verdant – half off her face is covered by the vanilla orchid + a cocoa pod; she is mysterious, elegant, and beautiful. The typography is inspired by botanical based brands (mezcals, florals) and old lettering styles – this customized typography offers something strong, unapologetic and handcrafted.

The illustrated icon and typography work together in different layers and type hierarchies to bring together variations of print collateral to capture the different tones and sides of the brand: sensual, sophisticated, and editorial. The wide usage allows for seasonal releases, collaboration collections, and limited product releases.

Colours are lush tones of ingredients – a balance of spice and delight – something for the palate and the senses: rosemary, mint, pistachio butter, nougat, flushed, 80% cocoa.

As the selected final concept by the client – this design captures the client’s desire for something that embraces the beauty and mystery of womanhood. Compared to the unselected, the lean of femininity spoke to the client on a personal level – making it the final choice.

Verdant – Unselected Concept

This unselected branding concept included custom illustrated icons and customized typography. Inspired by a quote, this leans into the adventure of flavour, pleasure, and experience. This is something notable, memorable – paving a way into a market – for those looking for more than just chocolate… they are looking for an experience.

Inspired by old maps, this style of lettering feels established but still playful. Full of whimsy and magic – the shapes capture a perfect chocolate dome along with the classic square shape – perfect for a chocolate or a sugar crystal. It’s striking.

The icon and typography either alone or together are incredibly strong and recognizable giving freedom and boldness to build for visual identity.

Colours are inspired by tones that compliment the nautical and whimsical inspirations, but also leans into ingredients like winter sage, olive, cream, deep ginger and cocoa pod.

100 Gay Men for a Cause: Vancouver

As part of our Giving Back Project – to donate a brand identity to a deserving and local to the Vancouver-area non-profit, our first recipient was 100 Gay Men for a Cause – Vancouver.

The group was in need of a rebrand – something that did not feel dated but ushered in a new age and vision for the group – a community even more inclusive and expansive. The brand is meant to be versatile with a future name change that doesn’t impact the ethos or style of the brand itself.

A custom icon and logo that symbolizes a flag. This flag signifies everything that has led you to this point, think: Everest, but also a sign of what is to come. This is just the beginning of life-changing work that will continue to unify the gay men, and the growing queer community in Vancouver in supporting local and empowering charities. The colour palette is striking, young and punchy but also lends itself to versatility and flexibility.

Colours are inspired by the pride flag, and include a range of complimentary colours that when used together are a beautiful rainbow combination but are also strong enough to be used on their own. The colour palette is soft, warm, and clean. The included pink is an ode to the original main brand colour.

Salt Sword Branding

Here we worked on Salt Sword’s visual identity. The goal? Bridging the gap of the future and the nostalgic longing of the past.⁠ The bright colour palette is a direct contrast to the lettering – offering something bold, modern, and nostalgic.

This was created with manual scanning techniques, with a gothic typeface with customizations and added texture. The main logo went through manual scanning to create the stretch and pull of the design, and the digital part of the process refined the usability and readability, to make an impactful logo. The type itself is something of the past and the effects used are bringing it into the reality of the future.⁠

The design is one of the kind, hard to replicate and perfectly captures @salt_sword‘s musical ability, taste and talents.

Monarch Place

This branding project for Monarch Place is a re-brand of the existing logo, and then creating a matching brand of their new transition house. The goal was to create a brand that kept many of the same elements, but went through a re-design to include custom script lettering, a custom butterfly logo and individual colour palettes for each transition home.

Monarch Place, the flagship transition home has been operating for decades, giving women and children a chance to live safely and in freedom away from abuse as they heal. The mission of Monarch Place has changed the lives of so many women and children, and we wanted to celebrate the joy of new beginnings.

The script lettering is all customized, keeping legibility in mind and creating a long-lasting brand. The butterfly icon is also created to mirror freedom, movement, with suns and rays surrounding the butterfly to capture safety and warmth.

The Azure Place logo kept the same elements, but has been assigned its own cooler colour palette to reflect the Azure butterfly and to help the branding feel connected to Monarch while having its distinct look.

Wings Counselling

Wings Counselling is a counselling group based out of New Westminster, BC. Wings is a counselling group that works to create a healing journey that is gentle, safe, and empowering for all their clients.

The concept is focused on something is light, neutral, and brings an element of Wings’ counselling approach – nurturing, tender, and kind. The feathers were created to capture the name and inspiration of freedom and growth. The colours created remain gender-neutral – creating an airy colour palette that keeps websites and graphics soft and inviting.

Wings Counselling offers services for men, women, trauma and relationship counselling.

Leah Day Arts

Leah Day Arts is a Vancouver multi-disciplinary artist, who is known for her abstract & surrealist artwork. Leah’s attention to detail and the process, allows her to create visually striking paintings.

The goal of this brand was to create a brand that capture Leah’s unique creations in a clean, bold, and professional way. As Leah’s market grows, she needed a brand that could scale with her opportunities.

The logo was inspired by how Leah writes their name – £ € A H •*• D A ¥ – we wanted to create something that mirrored this fun play on letters but that also reflected their use of geometric lines and details. The custom logomark reflects Leah’s heart for global unity, the colours compliment the tones most seen in their work, and brings together a brand that is unapologetically and uniquely Leah Day. The typography chosen is simple, keeping a focus on the artwork without detracting from the brand itself.

The World on a Wim

The World on a Wim is a blog by travel writer, Wim. Wim’s adventures are usually on a whim, become quickly filled with new friends, are always focused on telling a story, and respecting the land he visits. The World on a Wim is a resource, encouragement, and a story of a friend inspiring you to live a life of friendship & adventure.

The brand identity created wanted to capture images associated with travel, but captured Wim’s approach to traveling “on a whim” and tied in a nickname given to Wim – whimsical. Through the use of the globe, text in motion, and the stars – this branding captures the heart & personality this project.

The colour palette selected pays tribute to Wim’s love for Canada and his new home in British Columbia. The colours capture the cooler tones of the Pacific Northwest, and also capture Wim’s infamous toque, a dark red, as an accent & homage to Canada.

Alternates for the brand kept the heart of the main design, but is designed with versatility in mind that compliments different environments.

A symbol was created to be used as a logo mark and watermark for branded content. The stars speak to whimsy, and in every image – it encourages readers & aspiring travellers to live the life they’ve imagined.
